Pater Nosters

Pater Nosters is a book about a man who took a trip, doing one of his favorite things – backpacking. While he is backpacking in the back country of New Mexico, he happens upon a native-American man, tending a fire.

The man’s name is Lucian Wolfson and decides to camp with the Native American for the night, accepting his offer of food and heat from the camp fire.

As evening falls and night begins, Lucian begins to think that his companion is somewhat mental. Several of the things he says simply do not make sense and Lucian becomes a bit rattled and uncomfortable with this man.

He does stay the night and shares his hi-tech rations with the man, in exchange for some wonderful camp food, prepared by the Indian.

Because of the apprehensions, Lucian departs the next morning, continuing his trek.

Lucian walks several miles before he stops for lunch, before he must walk up a very steep trail, going to the top of the mesa surrounding the lush, green valley where he began.

During his walk up the steep trail, Lucian falls, tripped by a sapling over the trail, slides down the trail, and then falls over a cliff, falling several hundred feet to the rocky floor of a box canyon.

Thus, the story begins.
